Feline Veterinary Support Assistant

Michiganโ€™s largest spay/neuter animal welfare organization seeks motivated, compassionate, hardworking individuals experienced and familiar with Trap Neuter Return and the care of community cats, to assist in their pre and post-surgery care, feeding, and daily clean up while at the clinic.

Part-Time
Mondays and Tuesdays
Morning and late afternoon shifts available

  • No major holidays
  • Pay commensurate with prior experience. $12-$15

SKILLS:

  • Cat whisperer familiar with the mental and physical needs of community cats
  • Ability to lift and move 30 lbs repeatedly during the day
  • Ability to repeatedly kneel and bend
  • Ability to safely transfer cats from a carrier to a trap and from one trap to another trap
  • No physical restrictions
  • Clear and friendly communication with clients and co-workers
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and work well with others
  • Compassionate, committed to the Trap Neuter RETURN mission, motivated and punctual
  • Practice low stress skills in all interactions with animals

Desire to learn and grow in the veterinary field a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend to the needs of TNR patients
  • Transfer community cats to traps as needed
  • Quietly and calmly change out soiled puppy pads and food containers
  • Feed
  • Monitor
  • Ensure traps are clean, secured on both ends with zip ties and covered for comfort
  • Clean/disinfect traps that have been used in any transfer process
  • Remove zip ties from traps for loan
  • Maintain a clean environment
  • Additional tasks as needed and related to community cats

Client Service Representative

Transport Driver

Experienced driver with excellent administration and customer service experience needed: Our employees are reliable, compassionate, energetic and responsible individuals charged with getting pets safely to and from pre-determined drop off and pick up points. Some locations are up to 3 hours one way. $14/hr depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

โ€ข Check in pet patients at transport locations, transport and discharge patients the following morning. This also includes professionally providing intake and discharge instructions to clients and processing surgical consent forms.
โ€ข Safe and gentle handing, loading and unloading dogs of all breeds and cats in carriers.
โ€ข Transport and pick up or deliver items as needed outside of patient transports.

Qualifications:

โ€ข Experienced drivers only.
โ€ข Possess valid driver’s license. Clean driving record with no points.
โ€ข Clean animal record.
โ€ข Great work history with a track record of being a reliable responsible individual (must provide references from previous employer (s)).
โ€ข Clear and concise communication skills with both employer and clients.
โ€ข Excellent customer service skills demonstrating patience and professionalism.
โ€ข Must be able to safely drive a sprinter van.
โ€ข Must have no physical restrictions; repetitive movements, stairs, able to lift heavy items, etc.
โ€ข Must be comfortable with all sizes/breeds of dogs and cats.
โ€ข Your availability: Day generally starts at 5:30 am; sometimes earlier and sometimes 6 days a week. The work week is approximately 30 hours a week.

  • Flint: HQHVSN, Access to Care (affordable primary care), Walk-in Wellness Care, Dentistry. Onsite blood work, lab, pharmacy, digital x-rays, ultrasound, laser, dental x-rays, high speed dental unit. Surgery and wellness is open Tuesday through Saturday.
  • Warren: HQHVSN, Walk-in Wellness Care, limited Ill Care, Telemedicine, Dental Prophylaxis. Onsite blood work, lab, pharmacy. Surgery is open Monday through Friday with wellness open Tuesday through Saturday.
  • Auburn Hills: Walk-in Wellness Care, limited Ill Care. Onsite blood work, lab, pharmacy. Wellness is open Wednesday through Saturday.
  • Southwest Detroit: Walk-in Wellness Care, limited Ill Care. Wellness is open Thursday and Friday.
